Have you or a loved one been affected by cancer or chronic illness in Williamston, Michigan?
Whether you’re living with illness yourself, caring for someone, or honoring a family member who has passed, your story and your voice matter.
To create real change, we first need data — whether you currently live in Williamston or have lived there at any point in your life.
Please visit the Survey Page to fill out the community health survey. This information will help build a clearer picture of how widespread these illnesses are and ensure that every experience is counted.
My story alone isn’t enough — we need many voices, many data points, to demand action.
By completing the survey, you’re helping create a profile of what’s happening in Williamston so that current and future residents can live in a safer, healthier community.
I am also collecting personal testimonies to shine a light on the human side of this crisis — the faces, families, and stories behind the data.
If you would like to share your personal experience on camera or in writing, please reach out to me directly at thepostergirlfilm@gmail.com.
Together, our voices can spark awareness, accountability, and lasting change.

The Poster Girl Film
Poster Girl is a gripping documentary that interlaces two urgent narratives: one woman’s fight for survival and a community’s struggle for justice. At its heart is filmmaker Gayle Gurchiek — model, artist, author, and advocate living with stage-four metastatic breast cancer — who turns the camera on herself to uncover a deeper truth.
The film traces Gayle’s journey through repeated cancer diagnoses, the shortcomings she encountered in the Western/allopathic medical system, and the hidden history of environmental toxins in her hometown of Williamston, Michigan. Through intimate storytelling and powerful voices from the community, Poster Girl reveals how decades of pollution and systemic neglect have devastated families and left a lasting legacy of illness and loss.
Blending personal memoir with investigative exposé, Poster Girl confronts uncomfortable questions about accountability, public health, and the cost of silence. It is a story of resilience and truth-telling — and a call to action for anyone who believes clean air, safe water, and a healthy future are basic human rights.
